Evaluation of Anthracnose Resistance in Pepper (Capsicum spp.) Genetic Resources

Anthracnose (Colletotrichum spp.), is one of the major yield losing fungal disease in both pre- and post-harvest stage pepper (Capsicum spp.) production worldwide. Among Colletotrichum spp., C. acutatum has strong pathogenicity, which infects immature mature fruit leads to severe economic losses production. Inheritance anthracnose resistance was evaluated with 3738 genetic resources collected from different countries conserved at Korean genebank. The analysis against (C. acutatum) performed on detached green red fruits under laboratory conditions by spray (non-wounding) microinjection (wounding) inoculation methods. In primary screening, about 261 accessions were appeared be resistant inoculation. further method using isolate anthracnose. There highly significant differences severity distribution rating scale, considering all sources variation. Finally, have been validated cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) high-resolution melting (HRM) markers which, CAPS HRM marker showed four types genotypes such as (R), susceptible (S), heterozygous (H) Unidentified type (UT) or not detection. Capsicum showing high level pathogen could used source material breeding programs for disease.
